Building permits issued in Toronto in October 2026
2,321 permits from October 1–23, 2026, by permit type, with the estimated construction value the city records and the new homes they create.
What the data shows
The City of Toronto issued 2,321 building permits from October 1–23, 2026. Together they carry $1.27B in estimated construction value, counting the 765 permits (33%) that list a value; the typical (median) permit was $75K.
Small Residential Projects permits were the most common type (509, 22% of the total). 143 permits were for new houses, and all the month's permits together create 4,082 new dwelling units.
Each permit is counted once, at its latest revision. Plumbing, mechanical and drain permits are often filed alongside a building permit for the same project, so the count is of permits, not of separate projects.

How we counted: Permits with an issued date from October 1–23, 2026 in the city's active permits file. A permit listed more than once (revisions) is counted once. Estimated value is the construction cost the applicant declares to the city; about a third of Toronto permits leave it blank, so value totals cover only permits that list one. New homes are the dwelling units created that the city records on each permit. The figures are also available as data.json.
